Students debate at the Oxford Union

IMG_5972-scaled
Our students joined forces with their peers from our sister school, d'Overbroeck's, to hold a debate at the world-famous Oxford Union. The motion presented was, 'Vaccinations should be mandatory' and the student delegates represented different interest groups: Taxpayers, Healthcare, Hospitality, Teachers and Children.

A number of compelling and passionate arguments were put forward and the event gave the students a taste of the structure and atmosphere of the type of debate that is seen regularly at this historic venue.

Several requests for amendments of the motion were passed and, with these, the motion was ultimately carried.

A huge well done to everyone who took part!

Oxford Sixth Form College students also have the opportunity to join our Model United Nations group, which meets regularly to debate and take part in organised events.
